STC’s Supreme Committee for Legal Affairs stands before Level of Implementing Legal Part in the Presidential Statement

The Supreme Committee for Legal Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting, on Thursday, headed by Prof. Dr. Saad Mohammed Saad, head of the Committee.
The committee has dedicated its meeting to assess the level of implementing the legal procedures whose provisions and contents are specified in the presidential statement, stressing on importance of expediting completing the formation both of the legal and economic teams, with the need to take into account the effective representation of the South in relating to the scope and area of implementation; nearly limited to the absolute majority in governorates of the South as well as the STC’s active leading role.
The committee stressed on the need to enable the legal team to prepare a working mechanism on the specifications and entitlements determining prerogatives and responsibilities of the Presidential Leadership Council and its relation with the newly created bodies, in accordance with provisions of the statement as well as the other central bodies to ensure clarity and no dependency or exclusivity in implementing the concerned tasks.
The committee expressed its appreciation to efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council to expedite forming the team of reforming the judiciary, emphasized on the need to adhere, during the team’s work, to the fundamentals; foremost of which is the comprehensive and total change of the Supreme Judicial Council; and its head and members, which created troubles that hindered its work and contributed to spread corruption, as well as enhancing the principle of independence in performing its duties, and choosing its new leadership in accordance with the criteria of efficiency and integrity, and reformably establishing the administrative and financial systems.
The committee also stressed on the need of equitable representation for the southern cadre in its leadership, compared to the space of implementing tasks, which is vastly restricted to governorates of the South.
In the meeting, the committee attracted the attention to perilousness of overlooking the formation of this team and organizing the working mechanisms specified in the presidential statement, stressing that its ignoring will lead to return system and mechanisms of the previous stage, recurrence of crises and provocating the conflict again.
The meeting also touched on several topics related to the organizational and administrative work of the Committee and took the necessary measures in such regard.
