SMA NEWS – ATAQ
Technical work continues at a rapid pace in Shabwa Governorate to complete the final phase of the solar energy project, one of the most vital and strategic projects in the governorate’s electricity sector. This project is provided by the United Arab Emirates as part of its ongoing support for the governorate, with the direct efforts and supervision of Governor Awad bin Al-Wazir.
The current phase includes the final finishing touches to the station, in addition to connecting the power transmission lines extending from the project site west of Ataq to the General Electricity Corporation’s transformer station, a distance of approximately 15 kilometers.
This work is expected to be completed within the next few weeks, amid widespread public anticipation for the project’s operation. This project represents a ray of hope for the governorate’s residents, given its potential to alleviate the suffering of citizens due to frequent power outages, especially during the summer, which witnesses extremely high temperatures.
This project comes within the framework of the UAE’s supportive efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve the level of basic services in Shabwa Governorate, across various development, relief, and humanitarian sectors, contributing to bolstering stability and improving the quality of life for citizens.
