The Acting President of STC receives head of the Swedish MSF delegation
Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Chairman of the National Assembly, received on Wednesday, in his office, Ms. Bernadette Sweid, head of the Swedish MSF mission in Yemen.
In the meeting, Major General Bin Brik welcomed Ms. Bernadette, briefing her on the general political situation and the relative calm that the governorates of the South are experiencing at current stage, with the exception of Al-Dhalea governorate, whose fronts are witnessing clashes with the Houthi militia.
The Acting President of the Council affirmed the Transitional Council’s tendency to consolidate relations with international organizations and active missions in human rights, humanitarian, and relief fields that are operating in the South, and the joint working relations it enjoys with them, pointing to the efforts being made to overcome all the difficulties encountering them in order to be secured in carrying out their humanitarian work as required.
Major General Bin Brik invited the Swedish mission, and to all international organizations to visit the governorates of Hadhramout and Socotra, and the rest of the governorates of the South, to closely review the needs of these governorates, and to get to know about the suffering of the citizens there, and the security and stability they enjoy.
The STC Acting President reviewed the suffering of the citizens in all governorates of the South, as a result of the government’s failure to address the economic conditions, and to meet their service needs, and provide them with a decent livelihood.
Major General Bin Brik stressed that the visit of the delegation of STC to Riyadh, headed by the President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, in response to the invitation of the brothers in the Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is mainly to discuss the continuity of implementing the remaining of the Riyadh Agreement, to address the economic crisis that the country is witnessing due to the deterioration in local currency exchange rate, and the increasing in prices, in order to alleviate the suffering of our people who are suffering from poverty, hunger and disease.
Major General Bin Brik indicated that the Southern Transitional Council is committed before the international community and the Arab Coalition to restraint in the face of the government’s continuous provocations to the people of the South through the wing of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islah Party in it, which are trying to thwart and obstruct all efforts to reach a settlement that satisfies our people and alleviates the suffering.
In the same context, Bin Brik stressed that the Transitional Council was and remains a key and effective partner with the international community and the Arab Coalition in the field of combating terrorism in all its organizations and names.
For her part, Ms. Bernadette expressed her thanks and appreciation to Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik, and her happiness with this meeting, which comes in the service of achieving common humanitarian goals, noting that the mission focuses in its field of work on the humanitarian side in providing medical care to the Yemeni people in general.
