SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
Under the sponsorship of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and within the framework of capacity-building programs for the organization’s staff, the Statistical Training Center at the Central Statistical Organization launched a specialized training course on Saturday, in Aden the capital, titled “Data Integration from Multiple Sources for Thematic Analysis.”
Dr. Safaa Moati, Head of the Central Statistical Organization, emphasized that statistical data analysis constitutes the backbone of evidence-based policymaking, enabling governments and stakeholders to make decisions based on a true understanding of population needs.
She pointed out that national statistical offices play a pivotal role in ensuring the production of high-quality, timely, and relevant official statistics. This role goes beyond data collection, but extends to analyzing and interpreting data and transforming it into accurate information that contributes to effective policymaking.
Dr.Maati added that organizing such training courses reflects the agency’s commitment to developing its staff and enhancing their capabilities, enabling them to address the complex challenges in the Yemeni context, which requires the integration of various data sources, including surveys, censuses, and administrative records.
She concluded by emphasizing that investing in statistical capacity building represents an investment in the future of development in Yemen, expressing her wishes for success for the participants in the course.
The course, which is attended by 25 participants from the Central Statistical Organization’s headquarters and its branches in the liberated governorates, aims to enhance the capabilities of statistical staff in the areas of analyzing official statistical data and developing their skills in using appropriate analytical frameworks to integrate and interpret data effectively.
