SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The Director General of Dar-Saad District in Aden, Mr. Aboud Naji Hussein, along with the Director General of the Governorate’s Education Office, Dr. Nawal Jawad, received the French Ambassador to Yemen, Ms. Catherine Kammoun, and her accompanying delegation during their visit to the country. A delegation from the Ministry of Education, headed by Dr. Mohammed Omar Baslim, Director of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Education, was also present, in coordination with the district’s Education Office.

The visit included a tour of the kitchen where healthy meals are prepared for schoolchildren. This visit, which was dedicated to Dar Saad Directorate, aims to follow up on the process of distributing healthy school meals to male and female students, specifically the female students of Al-Shawkani Basic Education School, located in the heart of Dar Saad Directorate, which has about 2,500 female students, with an assessment of the nutritional content and knowing the extent of its impact on children, male and female students in government schools.

During the visit, the delegation observed the activities of the school’s daily healthy meal preparation kitchen, supported by the World Food Programme and implemented by the Social Humanitarian Society (SHS). Located at Aden Model Secondary School for Boys, the kitchen targets 22,000 students in 14 schools in Dar Saad, in addition to 3 schools in Al-Mansoura District. This brings the total number of beneficiaries to 25,300 students, following the initial approval of two schools earlier this year.
The Director General of the Directorate, accompanied by the French Ambassador, representatives of the World Food Programme, and the team from the Ministry of Education, listened to a comprehensive explanation from the project managers (the Human Solidarity Association). Ms. Sabah Bin Brik, the project manager for the Healthy School Meals Project at the Human Solidarity Association (the implementing body), presented the details of the adherence to general hygiene standards, the kitchen facilities, and the components of the prepared meals (bread, beans, cucumbers, cheese, and various fruits) stored in a secure refrigerator that operates around the clock to prevent spoilage.
