SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The Economic and Services Auxiliary Authority of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), on Monday, in the capital, Aden, held its periodic meeting for the month of February, headed by Mr. Murad Al-Halmi, Head of the Authority.

The meeting dealt with a number of economic and service files, most notably examining the repercussions of the classification of the Houthi militia as a global terrorist group on the economic and living situation in the country, pointing to the catastrophic humanitarian situation on people’s lives brought about by Houthi piracy operations and terrorist practices in the Red Sea.

The meeting also reviewed the government’s policy of exhausting Aden’s refineries and disrupting their activity in the field of importing and monitoring oil derivatives, which consequently deprived the state of financial returns, as well as stopping its activity as a free zone in the field of storage.

The meeting pointed out the entry of some petroleum derivatives without examination, which contain chemicals that are dangerous to humans and the environment. The meeting recommended the necessity of examining all petroleum derivatives imported to the capital, Aden, at the Aden Refinery, as it possesses the necessary experience, laboratories, and equipment.

The meeting touched on the government’s failure to take any measures that would contribute to stopping the bleeding of purchased energy fuel, as the amount of fuel allocated for electricity is being manipulated and smuggled to be sold on the black market.

The meeting also addressed the failure of the Central Bank system to activate its tasks and powers by activating the Payments Committee and monitoring foreign exchange auctions to ensure the return of amounts through basic commodities, and that merchants fulfill all their obligations.
