The General Secretariat of STC Organizes a Workshop Titled “Empowering Women and Youth: Between Reality and Hope”

The Women, Children, Youth and Sports Departments of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council organized a workshop on Thursday, in the capital, Aden, entitled “Empowering Women and Youth: Between Reality and Hope.”

Tahani Qaed delivered a speech at the beginning of the workshop, welcoming all attendees. She reiterated the Transitional Council’s emphasis on the important role of youth and women and the great attention the Council pays to these groups. She also highlighted the importance of empowering women and youth in various aspects of society.

Dr. Raghda Kamal presented a paper titled “Women’s Empowerment: Between Reality and Hope,” in which she explained some of the struggles women face and discussed the concept of women’s empowerment and the means to empower them economically, socially, and politically.

Activist Mansour Al-Hamid also presented a working paper titled “Empowering Southern Youth: Opportunities and Challenges,” which covered three main themes: political empowerment of youth, their political participation in decision-making positions and society, and cognitive empowerment.

Groups of ideas were formed during the workshop, and a discussion was opened. Participants presented a number of practical proposals and visions on the importance of capacity building, skills development, and projects and businesses that empower youth and women.
