The governor of the capital Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, discussed on Tuesday, with major traders and importers ways to benefit from the stability and improvement of the local currency rate in reducing the prices of basic and consumed goods.
The meeting, which was held in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Salem Salman Al-Wali and the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce, approved the commitment of traders and importers to reduce the prices of basic and consumed goods by percentages in line with the improvement in the price of the local currency exchange against foreign currencies during the next three days, in which citizens can feel the results of this reduction directly.
The meeting also approved the formation of a tripartite committee headed by the Governor of Aden and the membership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Chamber of Commerce, to sit with the Central Bank management to discuss the obstacles and difficulties facing the trade and supply process and ways to overcome them and address them in a way that preserves merchants and suppliers with their rights and leads to permanent stability of the market.
The governor Lamlas valued the merchants ’commitment and their eagerness to reduce the prices of basic and consumed goods by percentages can be touched by the citizens, indicating that they will strive during the coming period with the new government to unify customs duties in all ports, as well as facilitate navigation and reduce transportation and freight costs to ensure the flow of goods at more reduced prices in the next stage.
