The Minister of Transport gets briefed on the process of unloading the Safer ship

Dr. Abd al-Salam Humaid, Minister of Transport, reviewed with Safer Reservoir Risk Management Committee the progress of the procedures for unloading the floating tank, located in Ras Issa area, and the condition of the alternative ship designated for storing the cargo.
The meeting dealt with the contents of the plan represented in replacing Safer ship with an alternative oil tanker, which was purchased by the United Nations Development Program, and announcing its arrival at the port of Djibouti in mid-May.
The attendees discussed the procedures for unloading the oil shipment from Safer reservoir, with about 1.1 million barrels of crude oil, to the replacement ship, through the specialized Dutch salvage company, and the participation of 4 auxiliary ships in carrying out the operation, which is scheduled to start in June until next August.
