The National Assembly’s Administrative Board Discusses Developments in the Economic and Political Scenes

The Administrative Board of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Kathiri, President of the National Assembly and Acting President of the Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Essam Abdo Ali, Vice President of the Assembly, Al Kathiri gave a comprehensive briefing on the most prominent developments in the political and economic scenes in the south, most notably the catastrophic and unjustified deterioration of the local currency against foreign currencies, which has had a serious and negative impact on the living conditions of citizens in the south.

In this context, the Assembly’s Administrative Board called on the Central Bank and the government to take urgent and swift measures to curb this collapse and preserve what remains of economic stability.

In another context, the Authority followed the government’s efforts to address the situation, affirming its support for all efforts, particularly in the economic and service sectors, most notably the electricity sector, currency stability, and the payment of employee salaries. It emphasized the importance of concerted efforts among various parties to implement comprehensive reforms that contribute to improving living and humanitarian conditions.

Politically, the Administrative Authority discussed the repercussions of the volatile regional situation and the potential impact and challenges it may pose in the south. In this regard, it emphasized the importance of cohesion and unity around the political leadership of the Southern Transitional Council, considering that this phase requires the highest levels of wisdom and preparedness to confront any repercussions that may affect the people of the south and their just national cause.

In a related context, the Administrative Authority commended the ongoing activities of the southern communities in the United States and their efforts to convey the voice of the people of the south to international forums and explain the dimensions of the southern people’s cause to actors and decision-makers at the United Nations.

The body concluded its meeting by discussing a number of reports submitted by its specialized committees. It reviewed the accomplishments achieved within the framework of its assigned tasks and made the necessary decisions and recommendations.
