The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council holds its periodic meeting Chaired by Dr. Al-Khobaji

The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council held on Wednesday, its second periodic meeting for this week, Chaired by Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji, Acting President of the Council, Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit.
During the meeting, the Presidency renewed its appreciation for the initiative presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to address the crisis in Yemen through a comprehensive ceasefire and enter into negotiations and a peaceful settlement with the participation of all parties, foremost among which is the Southern Transitional Council, in a manner that ensures the response to the aspirations of the people of the South to restore and build their state and achieve their sovereignty over their land, stressing the importance of addressing the difficult humanitarian situation and providing the citizens’ needs.
The meeting discussed the report submitted by the General Secretariat on the difficult economic, service, and living conditions that the people of the South suffer from as a result of attempts to disturb public tranquility, power outages for long hours, suspension of salaries, the continued collapse of the value of the local currency exchange rate, and the corresponding rise in basic commodity prices, with the advent of summer, and the approaching the month of Ramadan.
In this regard, the Presidency renewed its call for the parity government to implement its declared obligations, and to respond quickly to the demands of the protesters who went out to demonstrate in the various governorates, after it was given the opportunity to address the existing situation as it is a direct responsibility that falls on its shoulders and should be achieved soon, away from the procrastination and political recruitment that aim to disrupt public life and fail the efforts to implement the Riyadh Agreement.
The Presidency warned of the attempts of those affected by the Riyadh Agreement, who seek to disturb the public tranquility and the stability of society by directing death squads and terrorist acts to cause chaos and terrorize society to implement suspicious agendas far from the interests of citizens, and at the expense, prestige, and reputation of the Arab Coalition countries, and regional and international powers seeking to end the war and achieve peace in the country and region.
The Presidency also reviewed the increasing cases of the new Corona virus, in Aden the capital and other Southern governorates, stressing the need to make more work and efforts to provide appropriate preparation to confront this pandemic by raising the level of awareness to prevent it, and following the appropriate mechanisms to increase the volume of response and community participation to besiege it and to reduce the incidence of infection, and supporting the efforts of regional and international organizations working in this field, appreciating at the same time the efforts made by the central and local Transitional Council bodies to face the pandemic, with the competent authorities, calling on them to continue these efforts and intensify their activities in this regard.
The meeting reviewed the activity reports for both the administrative body of the National Assembly and the General Secretariat during the first half of March, in which the Presidency appreciated the efforts made to enhance the role and position of the Council, and called for more efforts to develop work methods and public activity away from the followed stereotypes and to ensure coordination and consultation between the various bodies to implement common tasks in order to enhance the spirit of complementarity and work to implement the plans and objectives of the Council.
The Presidency had also discussed and approved the minutes of its extraordinary meeting and the minutes of its previous meeting, with an emphasis on the importance of continuing to implement the commitments and decisions taken in the Presidency’s meetings as priority.
