[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″][su_dropcap]I[/su_dropcap]n response to UN Security Council’s statement issued on August 29th, 2019 considering developments in Yemen and the South, General Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, president of the southern transitional council said: “We appreciate the group leadership of UN Security Council to support an inclusive negotiable political solution for the crisis in Yemen and the South., including authorization of UN to include representatives of the south in the political process. We urge UN delegate to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffith, to act quickly to enforce this authorization to guarantee applicable and successful political steps. The council is willing to participate constructively in negotiations that may end this crisis and resolve the southern cause through a political process”.
Al-Zubaidi added: “At the same time, the council is assuming its responsibilities towards the southern people through maintaining stability and calm down in Aden and all southern governorates, in retaliation for attacks of Al-Houthis and terrorist groups working under the Yemeni government against the southern people. We assert the importance of an urgent and firm international stand against threats directed to the southern people. Any delay in this respect will drag the country into major security and political conflicts. Referring to terrorist acts against the Security Belt in Aden, we express our need for international support as we fight extremism and terrorism on behalf of the whole world”.
“We confirm our full commitment with the Saudi invitation referred to by UN Security Council statement as part of our responsibilities towards reginal peace and stability, and also as part of our convection that Saudi Arabia considers the political future of our people”, said Al-Zubaid.
“We did our best so that these unjustified aggressions didn’t lead to worsen the humanitarian and economic situation. UN Security Council clearly indicated the urgent need for restoring public services. Therefore, we need urgent international support to guarantee sustainability of providing the south with all public services, including salaries, without delay”, added Al-Zubaid.
“We assert that current arrangements are temporary till a real sustainable solution for the southern cause is reached. We have a clear and applicable southern vision that considers all political, economic and security arrangements according to our commitments towards our southern people and the international law. We expect our international partners in the UN Security Council to reactivate the political process in Yemen and to deliver a final solution that provides the southern people with their right of self-determination”, Al-Zubaidi said.
