SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The administrative body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly, with the presence of all committee heads and a number of heads of the National Assembly blocs in the governorates.

At the beginning of its meeting, the body commended the efforts and directives of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC, to expedite finalizing a matrix of urgent solutions to halt the economic and service deterioration in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the governorates of the South.

During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Issam Abdo Ali, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly, the body studied a report submitted by the committee assigned by the Chairman of the Assembly, consisting of the Anti-Corruption, Economic, and Services Committees. The report contained the findings of the committee’s field visits to the authorities responsible for the electricity sector, highlighting the results and recommendations that ensure radical and urgent solutions to improve the service at its full capacity.

The committee also reviewed the most important findings from its field visits to the relevant authorities, the process of collecting data and information, and reports from official bodies and some international organizations on the problems facing the electricity sector. Additionally, the report presented a set of recommendations that would contribute to overcoming the deficit and finding sustainable solutions to the electricity crisis.

The committee touched on exploring immediate options as part of the solution to the electricity problem, which will limit draining the public treasury, by raising the productivity of the solar power plant funded by the brotherly United Arab Emirates (UAE) to support the electricity generation capacity, adopting strategic projects that rely on renewable and clean energy, and utilizing the geographical nature of the country through preparing specialized studies in this aspect.

The body then discussed in detail a number of developments and updates on the local scene in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, praising the decisions recently issued by the Central Bank in Aden, aimed at protecting the banking sector from Houthi tampering.
