The Research and Decision Support Center (RDSC) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its third regular meeting for the month of August on Tuesday, in the capital, Aden, headed by Dr. Mohammed Jaafar, deputy head of the RDSC.
The meeting stood before the rapid security developments in Abyan Governorate and the ongoing efforts of the Southern Armed Forces to counter escalating terrorist threats jeopardizing the South and the entire region.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the regional and international community in combating terrorism and extremism, emphasizing the need for joint cooperation in this field.
The meeting underscored the significance of community engagement in bolstering security and stability while stressing the need to raise public awareness and promote a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the South.
In a related context, the meeting touched on the statement delivered by Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Federation to the UN, who warned that “a tiny spark can trigger a full-blown conflagration that would be extremely difficult to put out,” stating “continue to coordinate approaches with all of the major political forces” and advocating for “the need to update the international legal framework for a settlement.”
The meeting also delved into a range of regional and international political developments pertaining to the cause of the South, paving the way for recommendations to be submitted to the Presidium of the STC.
