The STC’s Council of Advisors Addresses Political and Security Situation in the South

The Administrative Body of the Council of Advisors of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its second regular meeting for the month of July on Tuesday, in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Ahmed Al-Rubaizi, Vice President of the Council of Advisors.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council of Advisors praised the intensive meetings held by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Council of Advisors, since his return to the capital, Aden, with a number of government ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank, in light of the deteriorating economic and service conditions.
The Administrative Body addressed the repercussions of the events taking place in the city of Mukalla, including popular protests resulting from the deteriorating economic and service conditions. It affirmed its full support for the legitimate demands of the people and its refusal to be drawn into calls for chaos, the targeting of public and private property, and the tearing apart of the Hadrami social fabric.
The body reviewed several reports submitted by the advisory committees for security and defense affairs, politics, and administrative and financial reform, regarding developments in the political scene and the security situation in the south, and their impact on service conditions affecting citizens’ lives.
During the meeting, the Media and Culture Committee presented a report on media and cultural performance over the past period, covering events in the south on several Arab and local websites, for transmission to international decision-makers.
The meeting called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to fulfill their obligations to regularly pay military salaries, adopting a number of proposals and recommendations to strengthen efforts to meet the needs of the people of the south. The minutes of the previous meeting were also reviewed and approved.
