Brigadier General Waseem Mohammed Fadel Al-Omari, Director General of the Industry and Trade Office in Aden, held a meeting with Dr. Samia Abdo Nasher Al-Qabati, Deputy Prosecutor of Industry and Trade in Aden, to discuss future programs and steps to enhance the efficiency of regulatory work on merchants.
The meeting discussed developing a precise coordination mechanism between inspection teams and the prosecution, which includes the immediate referral of violations to the prosecution, continuous monitoring of the status of each case, and joint training for market regulators on modern methods for detecting counterfeit and adulterated goods, as well as legally drafting reports that meet all requirements.
Brigadier General Waseem Al-Omari emphasized his commitment to “intensifying surprise inspection campaigns of markets and factories to detect any violations against consumers,” noting that “continued cooperation with the Public Prosecution will contribute to raising the level of trust between consumers and regulatory authorities.”
For her part, Dr. Samia Al-Qabati praised these efforts, affirming the Public Prosecution’s full readiness to “support every legal effort that preserves citizens’ rights and stops market tampering.”
The Industry and Commerce Office, headed by Brigadier General Waseem Al-Omari, implemented concrete measures to protect consumers, including establishing a hotline and electronic quotas to receive citizens’ complaints and forward them directly to the Public Prosecution. It also prepared quarterly reports to measure the extent to which markets comply with prices and product quality.
