Under Patronage of President Al-Zubaidi..General Secretariat Inaugurates the First Stage of Honouring Women Trailblazers of the South

The General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) inaugurated in the capital, Aden, on Monday the first stage of honouring the female activists of the glorious revolution on the 14th of October, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Independence Day, under the generous patronage of President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC.
At the beginning of the honouring ceremony, which was attended by members of the STC’s Presidium, Eng. Adnan Al-Kaf, lawyer Niran Souqi, Ms. Suhair Ali Ahmed, Mr. Lutfi Shatara, and a number of leaders of the STC together with military, social, and women figures, Mr. Fadhl Mohammrd Al-Gaadi, member of the STC’s Presidium, and deputy secretary general, delivered a speech that began by conveying the greetings of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi,
Mr. Fadhl reviewed the trailblazing role of southern women in the stages of the October Revolution and the stage of transition from the revolutionary action to the state building, and their outstanding contributions in all different aspects, fields and stages, giving scenes from the march of women’s struggle alongside men in the October Revolution, leading to the liberation of the South and the achievement of glorious independence, as they have continued inspiring and heading rallies of the Southern Movement, as well as their immense role in confronting the North’s occupation forces.
Al-Gaadi indicated that the General Secretariat is pleased to inaugurate the first stage of honouring southern women activists during the British colonial era, which coincides with the celebrations of the people of the South on the 55th anniversary of the Glorious National Independence Day, the Union Day of the brotherly United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the commemoration of the Emirati Martyr’s Day. Furthermore, he affirmed the importance of strengthening and enormously privileging women, empowering them with deserving status, and announcing that a book will be published containing the most prominent struggling roles of southern women.
Ms. Radhia Shamshir gave a speech to the southern activists, in which she thanked and valued the STC, represented by President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, and expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the General Secretariat, namely Mr. Fadhl Al-Gaadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat, to inaugurate the first honouring stage, touching on the contributions and sacrifices of feminists and the leading roles of women as they are front and centre in all various fields.

Shamsher said: “Today women are the cornerstone in restoring the state of the South, and definitely this did not come from a vacuum, but an extension of the political and social backgrounds that have been achieved, offering gratitude on the implemented procedures in favour of enhancing and empowering women in fields of public life.” She also thanked the organizers and coordinators of this successful ceremony.
The honouring ceremony, which opened with verses from the Holy Quran, was followed by the national anthem of the South, and standing for a minute to tributedly read Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs of the South, then performing several artistic and cultural paragraphs, and a documentary film produced by the Department of Media in the General Secretariat of the STC’s Presidium was displayed, which included the prominent struggling roles and accomplishments of southern women, and acquired the approbation of all. After that, fifty female activists were honoured and appreciation plaques were offered in this first stage, which will be followed by honouring all southern women’s activism in the upcoming stages.
