Under the Notion of “With Words, We Foster Our Cultural Identity and Enlighten the South as a National and Humanistic Space”, Union of Southern Writers and Authors Holds its Foundational Conference.

[su_dropcap]O[/su_dropcap]n Thursday January 31st, 2019, Union of Southern Writers and Authors held its Foundational Conference in Al-Hoputa – Lahj, with attendance of several writers and authors from all over Lahj. Dr. Fadl Hammash, chairman of local leadership of the Southern Transitional Council in Lahj, and his deputy Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Emad, in addition to members of general assembly, chairmen of media and cultural departments and chairmen of local leaderships in Al-Houta and Teben, attended the conference. The conference started with recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the southern national anthem and then a minute of mourning for the soles of the late southern writers and martyrs of the southern revolution.
In his speech, Mahmoud Al-Madawi asserted the importance of this foundational conference for union of southern writers and authors in Lahj that includes several prominent intellects. Dr. Fadl Hammas also asserted the importance of this conference and thanked all efforts for holding it and those who travelled from all over Lahj to attend it. He also transferred greetings of president Aidarous Al-Zubaidi to attendants asserting that the conference is held under unusual circumstance as the south is targeted by tries to divide it. In addition, Dr. Hammash demanded all southern citizens to line up in the face of such conspiracies. Several poets, especially the young poet “Raad Al-Halemi”, recited their poems glorifying the south. At the end of the conference, Abdu Karad, announcer of the program, recited the foundational statement of the conference:
