With international support… Hadhramaut Local Authority launches the “Economic and Social Development Plan for the Period 2025-2029”

Hadhramaut Local Authority launched the “Economic and Social Development Plan for the Period 2025-2029.” The plan was prepared under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Yemeni government, Salem bin Brik, and the Governor of Hadhramaut, Mabkhout bin Madi, and with UN support.

The plan, which was launched during an official conference held in the city of Mukalla, attended by representatives of the government, the local authority, donor countries, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector, aims to transition the governorate from a phase of humanitarian relief to a phase of sustainable development solutions, within the framework of the area-based development programming approach launched by the United Nations in 2023, according to the local authority’s media.

During a speech delivered via videoconference at the plan’s launch event, Prime Minister Bin Brik emphasized that the plan outlines a clear, practical path with specific objectives and priorities spanning five years, focusing on strengthening infrastructure, serving productive sectors, encouraging investment, and empowering women and youth. He called on the private sector and national capital to return and take advantage of available opportunities to contribute to nation-building. Addressing the electricity problem, he said it represents one of the most prominent daily challenges facing citizens and the most significant cause of the significant depletion of state resources, he announced the study of serious national solutions to address the electricity crisis.
