World Bank discusses project to unify aids and banking transfer channels through Central Bank of Yemen – Aden

Within the framework of the efforts of the Yemeni government and the Central Bank to unify the channels of transferring humanitarian aids, a technical meeting was held on Wednesday, via Internet with the World Bank team, to discuss (mechanisms for unifying aids and banking channels through the Central Bank – Aden), in which the team of the Central Bank presented a working paper includes a summary of a project for exchanging funds for international organizations through the bank in Aden.
The importance of this project is to ensure that resources from foreign currencies are directed in a unified path to cover the necessary needs of basic commodities, and to use foreign currency amounts transferred from international organizations to contribute in enhancing security and food stocks, in addition to assisting the Central Bank in monitoring external cash flows to ensure optimal use of those resources, and to ensure their utilization and to contribute in the restoration of the cash cycle from the black market to the official banking sector that applies the standards of transparency, commitment, and international requirements and standards for combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
The meeting witnessed the participation of the World Bank team headed by Mr. Meraz Hassan, Executive Director of the World Bank Group, and Dr. Nader Abd Al-Latif Muhammad, the Regional Director of the World Bank, and the from our country, the Ambassador\ Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, our country’s ambassador to the United States, and Shuaib Abdo Al-Sagheer from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation … and the leadership team of the Central Bank of Yemen, headquartered in Aden.
