AC Milan conquers Sampdoria in Serie A

SMA NEWS – ROME

AC Milan maintained its unbeaten run in Serie A, beating Sampdoria 2-1 on Sunday.

Milan made the trip to Genoa without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao, so Ante Rebic started as a makeshift center-forward, while Alessio Romagnoli partnered Matteo Gabbia in defense.

The Diavolo had a great chance in the 38th minute but Rebic saw his effort cleared off the line with goalkeeper Emil Audero well beaten.

The away side finally broke the deadlock before the interval with Franck Kessie converting a spot-kick.

Milan made it 2-0 in the 76th minute as Samu Castillejo came off the bench to powerfully drill home.

Albin Ekdal pulled a goal back for Sampdoria in the 82nd minute, but it was too late.

Milan still leads the table with 26 points, five ahead of second-placed city rival Inter Milan.
