Inaugurating President Al-Zubaidi’s Football Championship in Socotra Governorate

The Head of the Executive Body of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Socotra archipelago, governor of Socotra archipelago governorate, Eng. Raafat Al-Thaqali, on Wednesday, in Socotra, inaugurated the Football Championship on the Cup of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Southern Transitional Council.
The Championship is held with the participation of football teams in of sports clubs in in Socotra Governorate.
In the inauguration, Eng. Raafat Al-Thaqali, confirmed that the leadership of the STC pays great attention to the youths and sports sector, as they are an important segment of society and there is great dependent on them in building the future of the country.
Al-Thaqali called on the participating clubs to present impressive levels in the tournament that reflect a beautiful picture of Socotra sport, show football talents, and highlight their creativity that the clubs possess.
For his part, Captain Ahmed Hazoum, head of the Football Association branch in Socotra, said that the tournament is held with participation of 27 clubs with the knockout system, and its competitions will continue for a month, praising the support of Governor Raafat Al-Thaqali, his interest and keenness to keep sports activities continue in the archipelago.
