Leicester City beat Manchester City 1-0 and win Community Shield
SMA NEWS – WEMBLEY
Manchester City suffered late heartbreak in the Community Shield as the new campaign got off to a losing start.
Pep Guardiola’s men faced a tough assignment against FA Cup holders Leicester City, and it was the Foxes who started brighter and fresher. City were without some of their English and Brazilian players, with youngsters Sam Edozie and Cole Palmer in the starting XI.
New record £100m signing Jack Grealish made his debut off the bench after a nervy first half that saw Zack Steffen produce a stunning save to keep the scores level.
However, City were beaten in the 89th minute when Nathan Ake clumsily conceded a penalty and former City striker Kelechi Iheanacho converted a late winner from the spot.
