(SYF) in the Burngreave area crowns Aden Port team 2018 volleyball tournament.

For the third year in a row, the Southern Youth Forum (SYF) in the Burngreave area held the 2018 volleyball tournament at Verdon Recreation Centre, Sheffield, where the finals ended on Thursday 14 June 2018 with the crowning Aden Port team as this year champion of the tournament.
The tournament started on the first Thursday of Ramadan and continued for four consecutive weeks. The tournament includes 10 men’s teams, most notably Aden Port, Altelal, Aden United and Moh Salah.
The above teams qualified to the semi-finals, where Aden port faced Aden Unite and Atelal faced Moh Salah, all teams had close games against each other as Altelal won against Moh Salah by 2-1 and Aden port qualified without conceding a set to Aden united to reach the final. Unfortunately, perhaps the pressure or fatigue, Altelal were unable to force a deciding set and finished losing 2 sets to 0. Aden Port team was crowned as champion of the tournament and Altelal came second, Aden United came third while Moh Sallah team won the idealistic team of the tournament with best player of the tournament cup went to Nadhmi Hageb (Altelal ), and Qamdan Mohammed (Aden Port) won best developed player of the tournament. Also in memorial of the deceased Abullah Allawi who used to be one of the best players in volleyball in Aden in the 1980s there was a cup, which was given to his friend Sami Alnouigi (Aden Port). The brothers Tamer and Mohammed Abdullrab raised the tournament trophy.
The (SYF) organizes this tournament in the holy month of Ramadan for the third year in row and what distinguished this year tournament are the remarkable attendance and the huge support of the community. Special thanks to the merchants in the Burngreave area for their contributions to make this year tournament so successful.
“Purpose of the event”
In an interview with the chairman of the (SYF) “Hamdi Ahmed Mohsen” for Burngreave Messenger, about the aim of the tournament, he said:”There isn’t enough sports activities going around in the Burngreave area for our youth specially volleyball. It has been a high crime record committed near Burngreave erea, with 185 crimes only on April 2018 (Street check website). Therefore, our youth are now in danger of being hanging around on the streets of burngreave area. Our weekly volleyball sessions now represent a safe heaven to a lot of our youths, as we are in a southern youth forum sure that it is their only escape from running down the streets and doing negative things ” he said”. Our weekly volleyball is a positive activity that our youth really enjoy. The members of of our group look forward to meeting every Thursday, playing friendly with each other” he said “. Our goal is to protect the youth in the burngreave area from standing on the streets and doing negative things” he said”.
