The opening of the 18th edition of the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar

The 18th edition of the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar on Friday, opened at Lusail Stadium, in the presence of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
In a wonderful gesture, Musab Al-Battat, the captain of the Palestine national team, presented the championship oath after Hassan Al-Haydous, the captain of Qatar, granted him that honor, in the stadium that hosted the 2022 World Cup final between Argentina and France.
The opening ceremony of the Asian Cup was entitled “The Lost Chapter of Kalila and Dimna,” which is one of the Asian heritage books that represents the cultural similarity in the continent, as it originated – according to most historians – from India, and was translated in the Abbasid era into Arabic, and was also translated into Persian.
The ceremony witnessed several singing and show performances, fireworks, and other things that the audience enjoyed, in a wonderful atmosphere, before the start of the opening confrontation between Qatar and Lebanon.
