Al-Kathiri stresses the need to strengthen the role of the southern media at this sensitive stage

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council and Chairman of the National Assembly, on Tuesday, chaired an extraordinary meeting of the National Authority for Southern Media.

Al-Kathiri stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the southern media at this sensitive stage, noting that the south is facing exceptional challenges that require concerted efforts and unified ranks in order to maintain the security and stability of the south.

The Acting President of the Council explained that the economic and livelihood crises, in addition to the sharp collapse of the local currency, provided a suitable environment for hostile forces to attempt to destabilize and stir up chaos, stressing the pivotal role of the southern media in confronting malicious rumors and campaigns targeting the people of the south and their cause.

Al-Kathiri also praised the role of the security services in dealing wisely with attempts to incite riots, stressing at the same time the Southern Transitional Council’s support for the demands of the people, provided that they are within a peaceful and civilized framework.

For his part, Mukhtar Al-Yafei, Vice President of the Southern National Media Authority, appreciated the keenness of the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council to follow up on the urgent developments in the capital, Aden, and its interest in the difficult economic and living conditions experienced by the people of the south, stressing the prominent role of the southern media at this stage in educating the masses and clarifying everything that is happening on the scene.

The Acting President of the Council listened to the comments of the attendees from the members of the National Authority and their proposals aimed at developing the southern media in a way that meets the aspirations of the people of the south.
